Uhuru, Raila Lock Horns, Mini Polls Reveal

The much anticipated Raila, Uhuru fallout is imminent. The recently concluded by-elections reveal a glaring disparity between the handshake partners.

Unlike previous mini polls where Jubilee withdrew its candidature in support of ODM and vice versa, the latest development indicates that things have fallen apart. BBI stalemate and President Uhuru Kenyatta’s silence over the issue raise has attracted scrutiny, as DP Ruto’s camp gain political mileage.

The flip-flopping Attorney General Paul Kihara confirms the hidden agenda of depicting the process as executive driven, which is a major legal hurdle. The architects have to proof the document as being driven through a popular initiative and debunk the High Court verdict.

Uhuru’s commitment to BBI is dubious. There is more than what is in the public domain.

Mini Polls Confirm Uhuru, Raila Fallout

In the mini elections, ODM won the Bonchari constituency seat amid tough competition from Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party and William Ruto affiliated Party UDA. People’s Empowerment Party (PEP) associated with Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria clinched the Juja parliamentary seat.

ODM’s Pavel Oimeke bagged the Bonchari seat. ODM leader Raila Odinga condemned the abuse of police powers in Bonchari and Juja.

“What we have witnessed in the by elections in Bonchari and Juja is an abuse of police powers and an arrogant display of IMPUNITY by a few overzealous and bellicose government functionaries,” Raila tweeted on Wednesday.

In Bonchari, ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna had alleged that the police were pursuing him alongside the Party’s national treasurer Timothy Bosire as voting process was underway.

Uhuru Humilation in Juja

Moses Kuria has managed to wrestle President Uhuru Kenyatta out of Central Kingpin by bagging the vote rich Juja seat. Kuria is a close ally of deputy president William Ruto. Ruto is a frontline presidential candidate seeking to succeed Kenyatta.

Juja by election was marred with violence and it was impossible for vote tallying to continue at Mangu High School as scuffle broke out. Rampant cases of bribery characterized the voting process at Juja.

UDA won an MCA seat at Rurii ward in Nyandarua County. It was double win for the ‘Hustler nation’.

Unconfirmed sources divulge that Juja constituency was curved from the large Jomo Kenyatta family land. Kuria’s triumph is a great humiliation to Uhuru.

“We thank GOD for Hustler nation VICTORY in Juja and Rurie and AWESOME show in Bonchari. A big congratulations to all our hustler TEAMS for a sterling PERFORMANCE against all odds. HONGERA our competitors, let’s keep it ISSUE BASED and PULL together. Sasa tupange uchumi na Big 4,” DP Ruto tweeted.

Murang’a Senator Irungu Kang’ata linked their win to the unpopularity of BBI in Mt Kenya. Kang’ata posted on Twitter: “When I said BBI is unpopular, I meant the ground, not political elites. Hustler wins two seats in Mt Kenya – Juja and Rurii”.

Since the handshake, the Deputy President has been sidelined by President Uhuru. The handshake that brought President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga gave birth to the much hyped BBI.

Since the High Court quashed the constitutionality of BBI driven constitutional amendments, there have been heightened rush to piece evidence of appealing the rule. Raila’s allies are worried that the outcome might have a negative impact on their wing.

How Human Noise Kills Marine Species, as revealed by Scientists

Scientists have warned that the discord of noise made by humans is harming marine species .  A comprehensive assessment revealed that large noise from human activities was as harmful as pollution, overfishing and climate change .  The study that was conducted by the Journal Science exposed how marine animals can hear from far distances than they can see or smell. According to a report published in the Guardian, most of the marine life uses sound to catch prey as well as attracting a mating partner.  Prof Carlos Duarte of King Abdullah University in Saudi Arabia argued that: “Marine animal can only sea up to around 10 meters, smell up to around a hundred meters, but they can hear across the entire ocean basins.” The research concluded that sound “is very important in the marine ecosystems, and noise is pervasive, affecting animals at all levels .” The increasing cacophony in the marine habitat is interfering with how marine animals respond to various survival...

Carbon dioxide to Make Jet Fuel, Study Reveals

Photo Source: twitter.com Aircrafts release a lot of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere which contributes to climate change. A research that was conducted by Science News and reported on December, 22 2020 stated that there was a new iron-based catalyst that has been invented to convert carbon dioxide into jet fuel. It is only a matter of time that carbon dioxide pumped to the atmosphere by planes could be sucked and used to power the same. The air travel’s footprint in carbon emissions could be tremendously curtailed, if the carbon dioxide that is released is recycled to generate fuel. As per Science News reports, Air transport contributes to about 12 percent of the entire transportation carbon-related emissions. Unlike cars, aircrafts cannot carry bigger batteries which can be run on electricity generated from wind or solar panels. The current breakthrough in the conversion of carbon dioxide to fuel involves cheap ingredients such as iron and transformed through a single s...

Why Mt Kenya Leaders are wary about Change of Guard

As 2022 succession battle gains momentum in Kenya, leaders drawn from Mt Kenya region have become more concerned of their political future and survival. Mt Kenya region is predominantly occupied by the agikuyu, ameru and aembu communities. The region has produced three out of the four presidents. It boosts about the tyranny of numbers, thus making the region a battle ground for leaders from other region seeking to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.  Central alone produced Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, Mwai Kibaki and Uhuru Kenyatta as presidents. The only other Kenyan president drawn out of the region was Daniel Arap Moi. In the recent past, the region has gone against the tide of State operatives as a sign of revolt over what they term as negligence from the government, despite electing one of their own to the much coveted seat.  Deputy President William Ruto has taken advantage of the brewing rebellion through making serious political forays in Central and its vicinity. ODM leader Rail...
