Cisco and AWS collaborates on Integrating AWS IoT Core and Cisco Edge Intelligence

Cisco has announced that it would collaborate with Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud on the integration between AWS Core and Cisco Edge intelligence software. The move will enhance seamless movement of data from the network’s edge to AWS.  In a blog post released by Cisco , the company compared data to ‘new oil’ that required extraction, processing and delivery. The move is meant to reduce the cost of migrating all internet of things (IoT) data to the cloud. The company is seeking to end barriers of converting edge data to insights. The integration makes it easier to extract, process, govern and deliver edge data to AWS. Using the same platform to transform data makes the process more consistent. The end-to-end integration allows data to be secured on its transformation journey from the edge to the cloud. This is enhanced by the “numerous authentication and transport security protocols.” Michael McKenzie, General Manager IoT Connectivity and Control for AWS, said: “Cisco has

Little Known Challenges Facing Artificial Intelligence Deployment in Health Care Systems

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is one of the emerging technologies that are largely deployed in the health care industry. AI is a broad-based term that includes machine learning , deep learning and natural language processing to accomplish “smart tasks” that we mostly associate with human beings.  The technology augments human skills to perform the most complex problems , while offering insightful data. However, AI in health care poses unique data challenges. In medicine, AI is empowered to use deep learning and machine learning algorithm to emulate human skills in the analysis, understanding and display complex medical report. According to IDC research, healthcare industry records a larger amount of data that continues to grow as time goes by. US Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act exacerbated the challenges related to data privacy due to adoption of electronic records that contain the information about patients. Companies like Pfizer , IBM and Salesforce use the

How Edge Computing and 5G Wireless will impact the Enterprise Infrastrucure

Edge computing is fast gaining traction as most companies adapt to operating smaller data centers. The main aim of edge computing is to bring the hosting services closer to its potential users. The technology revolving around Edge computing is morphing as cloud and data centers development advances. The deployments of 5G fast wireless and Internet of Things (IoT) gadgets require the disposition of networks that would necessitate computation and data analytics close to where data is developed. Edge computing enables real-time computing power with the assistance of 5G wireless . Self-driving cars, robotics, artificial intelligence , analytics and video processing are run by real-time applications. Edge devices include IoT sensor, latest smartphone, security camera or internet-connected microwave. Wikipedia, the largest online encyclopedia describes Edge Computing as “a distributed computing model that moves data storage and computation closer to the place where it is requ

Quantum Computing: The Eye-Catching Technology

Quantum computing is the latest eye-catching technology that has been largely adapted by cloud providers such AWS and Microsoft. Classical computers process information that is in binary form whose metric is in bits, whereas quantum computer process information based on quantum theory and measured in qubits. Quantum computing devices use the quantum powered superposition and entanglement principle to transform data into information. The technology is widely used in research institutions, start-ups and large tech companies like Microsoft , Intel , Google and IBM . Unlike the classical computers, the devices are very powerful with the ability to solve complex computational problems and use less power. Microsoft has taken quantum cloud to another level by developing Azure Quantum which is a public cloud system dedicated to quantum applications. The application is currently available for public preview as the Redmond giant urged developers to start using the platform for bui

Ways in Which Tech Combated Mental Stress during the Pandemic

Photo Source: twitter.com The stress of pandemic lockdown was battled with through a number of ways. Other than physical exercises, watching movies, reading novels among other activities; most people spend most of their time online. Limited travels and stay at home protocols saw many people seek help from online support groups and meditation apps. Virtual reality was widely used to fight loneliness and improve mental health. Some individuals who were affected with Covid-19 used to connect with their families, friends and relatives on Zoom calls. Multiple sources indicate that 2020 saw the accelerated use of social media in dissemination of information. Some elites who were in one or the other affected by the pandemic turned to Twitter and Facebook in seeking mental solace. The emergence of the pandemic led to a number of technological breakthroughs. In 2020, there were so many innovations and inventions that were geared to cushion humanity from the impact of the global

Verizon partners with Delloitte to offer Smart Solutions to Firms

Business consultancy firm Delloitte has partnered with Verizon to offer 5G and edge solutions. According to Delloitte, it will use its rapport and information of specific companies to assist Verizon deploy 5G edge MEC platform, mobile networks, Software Defined-Wide Area Network (SD-WAN), IoT sensors, computer vision solutions, cloud-based artificial intelligence and private enterprise. According Verizon, the partnership will enable them transform the manufacturing and retail sector. Verizon is seeking to use Delloite’s engineering expertise to serve specific consumer demands. The two companies have agreed to develop a smart factory system. The two firms want to offer their customers with “real-time enterprises” using commercial agility and real-time intelligence.  Verizon will benefit a lot from the partnership, as it will enable it shut competitors like AT&T and T-Mobile out of some designated 5G enterprise contracts. The partnership between the two companies will fir
