Russia – Ukraine war: It’s Putin against Ukraine, not Russia against Ukraine

Russians showed solidarity with the world in condemning Putin’s full-scale attack on Ukraine. This was after a video went viral showing the recording of a Ukrainian soldier showing the Snake Island, moments before it was fired by Russian troops.

13 soldiers lost their lives on the spot, including the soldier who live-streamed the video. Later on, Ukrainian soldiers were captured on video burning their documents outside the Ukraine Defense headquarters in Kiev.

People in Russia have stormed the streets to protest against Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. Hundreds of anti-war protesters were arrested in Moscow. 

Ukrainian authorities claim that they have lost control of Chernobyl nuclear site after a fiery clash with Russian troops. The worst nuclear disaster in 1986 occurred at Chernobyl.

Russia waged a full-scale war on Ukraine on February 24, 2022. Russia President Vladimir Putin had earlier refuted claims of impending attack, but later on claimed that the war was inevitable.

Zelensky’s revelation

Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky revealed that he was target No. 1 and his family as target No. 2. He refuted claims that he has fled the country. 

Unlike other leaders who fight at the back, Zelenzky is on the front fighting for his people. He donned in military gear, taken up arms and joined the Ukrainian troops to repel Russian foray.

Russian troops attempted to seize control of Kyiv, with expectation of aircrafts from Belarus to back their assault.

It was quite an emotional moment as Ukrainians sang hopeful songs as the battle ensued. 

Russia – Ukraine Conflict Fact Check

Between March and April 2021, Russian President Vladimir Putin directed Russian Defense to mass thousands of military personnel and equipment around its borders with Ukraine and in Crimea. This marked the beginning of the largest mobilization since they annexed Crimea in 2014.

Ukraine and Russia severed diplomatic ties on 24th February 2022 after Russia invaded Ukraine. Deadly battles engulfed Ukrainian Capital, Kyiv on Friday with explosions being heard almost everywhere.

Russia is mostly concerned about its security with the sensation that Ukraine’s inclusion in NATO jeopardizes their position.

The collapse of Soviet Union in 1991 offered Ukraine a flawless chance to de-nuclearise in compliance with the Budapest Dispatch rendering the country dependent on security pledges from US, UK and Russia. Ukraine was by then having a colossal number of nuclear weapons.
