Spotify, an audio streaming and media services provider, announced on Monday that they are planning to expand their market within the next few days.
Most of the new markets are developing countries from Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and the Pacific. Kenya, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Nigeria are countries that will benefit from Spotify services.
“Some of the places we are going like Bangladesh, Pakistan and Nigeria have the fastest growing internet populations in the world,” stated Spotify spokesman Alex Norstrom.
The announcement came through a live-streaming function that featured Meghan Markle, Prince Harry and Justin Bieber. The launch of Spotify in Kenya will help bolster the music industry. It will enable Kenyan musicians have a wider audience.
The penetration of Spotify to new market coincided with the partnering of former US President Barack Obama and veteran rock star Bruce Springsteen in a new podcast series to be broadcasted on Spotify.
The pair will highlight issues related to race, marriage, fatherhood and the state of America in a series dubbed ‘Renegades: Born in the USA.’
