Immediately after the passage of BBI Bill in the National Assembly, National Assembly Majority Leader Amos Kimunya and opposition whip Junet Muhamed held a joint presser, sending jitters down the spine of Ruto's allies.
Junet stated that BBI approval might be further implemented by impeaching the Deputy President. Kimunya amplified Junet's sentiments, adding that President Uhuru Kenyatta's government cannot tolerate opposition from within.
On Tuesday, Senate overwhelmingly voted to approve the 2020 Constitutional Amendment Bill.
UDA's Whatsapp Chat Leaked
Senator's allied to DP Ruto engaged on a highly charged online conversation ahead of the BBI Bill debate in the Senate.
"We have to make sure that this BBI nonsense doesn't see the light of the day tomorrow," Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika contributed to the Whatsapp discussion.
She further added: "We must sanitize our image. MPS wametulima mbaya."
Murang'a Senator Irungu Kang'ata seemed to agree with his Nakuru counterpart. "I agree," he reacted.
Later on, Kang'ata notified the group members the exact place that was to be used to collect the package. Did DP Ruto pay some Senators to shut down the BBI Bill in the Senate?
"Kindly note the place to receive the package is at the Speaker's Gallery. Respond to be assigned your time," Kang'ata wrote.
Tharaka Nithi Senator Prof Kithure Kindiki forwarded Kangata's post back to the chat for emphasis. He later on wrote that he will vote against BBI.
