Senator Wako recounts his First time in Ambulance

Busia Senator Amos Wako has narrated the first time he was driven in an ambulance after contracting Covid-19.

He was speaking at the National Prayer Breakfast event held in Parliament on Thursday. Wako disclosed the chilling moments in the ambulance when he thought he was about to die.

“For the first time I was transported in an ambulance. There were about six people in that ambulance and one of them was holding a gas cylinder. I had been put on oxygen support,” Wako told the congregation.

The former attorney general caused laughter when he claimed that he failed to recognize his Party Leader Raila Odinga during the funeral of the late Wajir Senator Yusuf Haji. This was because he was unwell.

“Some of you may recall during the funeral of Senator Yusuf Haji. My party leader Raila Odinga came to where I was seated, and I asked him who he was,” he stated.

Wako was diagnosed of Covid-19 on February 17, 2021. He contracted the virus despite observing the Ministry of health protocols, as he would aver. The senator urged the government to increase access to medical facilities because Kenyans on the ground are suffering.

“I commend the government of Kenya and the Ministry of Health for the tremendous effort they have put in. I am appealing to the government to ensure that the poor can access medical services especially in treatment of Covid-19,” he added.

National Prayer Breakfast was attended by President Uhuru Kenyatta, Deputy President William Ruto, National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi, Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka, Chief Justice Martha Koome, National Assembly Majority Leader Amos Kimunya, and Senate Majority Leader Samuel Poghisio among others.

The event was also graced by former Vice President Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka. But ODM Leader Raila Odinga was conspicuously absent.

Peter Waiyaki delivered a sermon and asked leaders to enhance integrity. He advised leaders not to make Kenyans hopeless because of the lack of integrity. His talk was largely directed to those State officers who are corrupt and seemed to have pinched some of the attendants.

President Uhuru Kenyatta praised Waiyaki for the powerful talk. He urged leaders to take heed of what had been preached to them. This year’s event was the 18th National Prayer Breakfast since its inception.

Why Ruto will heavily rely on Mudavadi, Joho in his reelection bid

When Kenya president William Ruto was almost overwhelmed with gen z revolt, his landmark decision was to dismiss the entire cabinet. This occurred immediately after his refusal to sign the Finance Bill 2024/2025. Ruto endeavored to reconstitute a new cabinet, dubbed broad-based executive. He incorporated key opposition figures drawn from the ODM Party - a move that appeased the doyen of opposition Raila Amollo Odinga. Cabinet Secretaries drawn from ODM included: Hassan Ali Joho, Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya, John Mbadi Ng'onga and James Opiyo Wandayi. ODM is as good as dead, and Raila's age factor limits him from flying the Party's presidential flag again and has opted out by contesting as Africa Union Commission (AUC) chairman. President Ruto will heavily rely on two members of his cabinet in his reelection bid. Both Musalia Mudavadi and Hassan Ali Joho are billionaires going by their own assertion while appearing before the Parliamentary Committee on Appointments. President...
