President Uhuru Kenyatta met Mt Kenya regional leaders allied to Azimio La Umoja, amidst Kenyans outcry over increased food prices. Ruto and allies have attacked the government over augmented cost of living.
The President has declared open support for opposition leader Raila Odinga to the chagrin of the Deputy President William Ruto. Uhuru made known his intentions at the Sagana 3 State Lodge meeting.
Uhuru had in the past hinted his support to his erstwhile political nemesis, though, he hadn’t declared it publicly. Sagana 3 ended speculations of whether Uhuru would direct Mt Kenya region in a different direction or not.
His declaration of Raila’s support come months after Mt Kenya Foundation under the auspices of business moguls declared their support for the ODM leader.
The President has been accusing his deputy over early campaigns, instead of working. Uhuru christened Ruto as ‘tangatanga, due to his energy of traversing the country in his popularization campaigns.
“I told William Ruto that the time for campaigns would come, that there was time for everything. I told him that the time was time for working because work changes livelihoods,” Uhuru Kenyatta stated on February 23, 2022.
Uhuru defends Raila on Jubilee Failure
President Uhuru Kenyatta strongly defended ODM leader Raila Odinga from opponent attacks over the opposition leader’s dalliance with the State. He tactically absolved him from the recent spike of food prices in Kenya that led to public outcry using the hashtag of #lowerfoodprices on Twitter and Facebook.
The President refuted claims that Raila is part of his government, while defending him that the he joined him when positions were already filled, with the other half gone to his deputy and allies.
Uhuru posed: “When I met Raila I told him I had shared half of my government and I did not have any positions to give him. I only wanted the country to be united, did Raila join government?”
Betrayal in Town
Uhuru publicly endorsed Raila at Sagana State Lodge in Nyeri, in a meeting that was attended by Jubilee delegates who are pro-Azimio.
As the adage would have it, there are no permanent friends in politics, but only permanent interests. Uhuru wants to leave a legacy of having protected the interests of a few wealthy persons, while his deputy is on a looting marathon eyeing the icy part of the national cake.
Rampant corruption has permeated every sector of public life, with Ruto being mentioned as the most corrupt political leader in the country. The Deputy President of Kenya is surrounded with a cabal of leaders who have been numerously mentioned in corruption cases.
