President Ruto's controversial military promotions


 President Willam Samoei Ruto, the  Commander-in-Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces, has made several promotions in the Defence Forces.

The president, upon recommendation of the Defence Council, promoted Major General David Kipkemboi Ketter to Lieutenant General and appointed him as the Commander of the Kenya Army. 

Keter replaced Lieutenant General David Kimaiyo Chemwaina Tarus who has been redeployed as the Vice Chancellor of the National Defence University of Kenya (NDU -K). 

Prior to Ketter's appointment as the Kenya Army Commander, he was the Assistant Chief of Defence Forces in charge of Personnel and Logistics.

Additionally, President Ruto appointed Major General Benard Waliaula as the Commander of Kenya Air Force. 

Major General Benard Waliaula has filled the gap left by Major General Fatuma Gaiti Ahmed whose term of service has expired after 42 years of service. 

Prior to Waliaula's appointment as Commander Kenya Air Force, he was the Director of Defence National Security Industries.

President Ruto also promoted and appointed Brigadier Joel Muriungi M'arimi to the rank of Major General and appointed him Commandant Kenya Military Academy. 

Prior to Muriungi's appointment as Commandant Kenya Military Academy, he was the Commander Armoured Brigade.

The President, further, promoted and appointed Brigadier Joyce Chelang'at Sitienei to the rank of Major General and redeployed her Deputy Vice Chancellor Centre for Strategic and Security Studies at National Defence University of Kenya(NDU-K).

Prior to Sitienei's promotion and appointment, she was the Director International Peace Support Centre.

Uproar after armed goons infiltrate women press briefing at KHRC

Armed militia stormed KHRC, causing lots of chaos, confusion and mayhem. Goons disrupted Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHCR) press conference in Nairobi on Sunday, and accused the organizers for planning Saba Saba protests . Mothers had convened at the KHRC offices to address issues related to seeking Justice for victims of police brutality. The attack prompted the conveners to scamper for safety. According to Standard Media, one journalist attached to them lost a phone which was snatched from him by one of the goons.
