Kenyans demand answers over inflated Visa, Passport Costs

 


Kenyans have asked President William Ruto to audit the immigration department and immediately sack the Director General immigration services, Evelyne Cheluget over illegal increase of visa and passport costs.

There have been allegations of massive broker driven visa charges which has undermined confidence in government services.

Reports of unofficial visa and passport fees have shaken public trust, with Kenyans demanding answers from the relevant authorities.

Kenyans turned to X platform in expressing their grievances over illegal fees on vital international travel documents.

The viral hashtag #PresidetSackCheluget dominated the X site on the better part of Monday.

Evelyne Cheluget was appointed as DG immigration services on May 15, 2023 taking over from Alexander Muteshi.

Upon taking over at the immigration department, she has presided over reforms to improve passport issuance efficiency, reduce waiting time and maintaining regular supplies of passport booklets.
