Odinga Family in secret, crisis talks shortly after Ida's appointment

Looks like there's some drama unfolding within the Odinga family! Raila Odinga's son, Raila Odinga Junior, seems surprised by Mama Ida's appointment as Kenya's Ambassador to UNEP, suggesting the family wasn't fully consulted. This led to an emergency family meeting called by Oburu Odinga, the ODM party leader and family patriarch, scheduled for February 1.

Given Ida Odinga's recent emphasis on the family needing space after Raila's passing, this appointment might be adding to the tension. 

The larger Odinga family seem to be reading from different script, since the demise of Raila Odinga.

EALA legislator Winnie Odinga is up in political arms against her uncle Dr Oburu Oginga over the state of ODM and the looming pre-election pact with the ruling UDA Party.

President William Ruto made the surprise appointment of Ida Odinga, in the midst of ODM wrangles and simmering internal divisions within the family of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga.
