Edwin Sifuna caravan arrives at Kakamega in style ahead of Mega Rally

As of February 20, 2026, Sifuna and his team (including figures like Siaya Governor James Orengo, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, and others) are en route and in preparation for the major event scheduled for Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Amalemba Grounds in Kakamega, with possible stops in areas like Khayega and Mbale.

This is part of their anti-Ruto "Linda Mwananchi" (Protect the Citizen) campaign, following a previous rally in Kitengela that faced disruptions.

Key highlights from recent reports:

1. Well-wishers donated a fully equipped sound truck (with a powerful system) to support the Kakamega tour.

Sifuna humorously noted additional gifts like 20 chickens, joking about where to prepare them.

2. The caravan faced challenges en route: The sound truck was attacked and stoned in Riat near Kondele, Kisumu, damaging the windscreen. Reports also mention vandalism in Kisumu while heading to Kakamega.

Despite this, Sifuna has emphasized that the journey and rally will proceed ("safari itaendelea").

3. Tensions are high: Local leaders like Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa and Deputy Governor Ayub Savula have warned against the rally or suggested opposition, while Sifuna has formally notified police and Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen to prevent claims of ignorance (as happened post-Kitengela).

There's talk of heavy police deployment and potential showdowns, with pro-Ruto teams also active in the region.

Supporters portray the arrival as energetic and "in style," backed by youth groups, boda boda riders for security, and community enthusiasm, though incidents like stone-throwing indicate resistance.

The "in style" aspect likely ties to the donated truck/caravan setup, public donations, and defiant momentum despite hurdles—similar to high-profile arrivals in past events.

No confirmed reports yet of the final arrival in Kakamega (as events are unfolding today/tonight ahead of tomorrow's rally), but videos and photos circulating show the convoy and preparations.

This is shaping up as a significant political flashpoint in Western Kenya ahead of 2027 dynamics.
