Key Details of UDA Aspirants Forum launched by President William Ruto

The UDA Aspirants Forum (also referred to as the UDA Aspirants' Forum or UAF) is an initiative by Kenya's ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party, led by President William Ruto.

It serves as a platform for individuals interested in contesting various elective positions in the 2027 General Elections on the UDA ticket.

Key Details

Purpose: The forum aims to register and engage aspiring candidates (aspirants) early, promote party unity, provide guidance on party rules/values/expectations, strengthen leadership capacity, and prepare for a structured, credible nomination process.

It helps consolidate support and build grassroots momentum for the party's re-election strategy.

Inaugural Event: The first (inaugural) UDA Aspirants Forum took place today, February 4, 2026, at State House, Nairobi.

President William Ruto, Deputy President (and UDA Deputy Party Leader) Kithure Kindiki, Secretary General Sen. Hassan Omar Hassan, and other party leaders addressed the gathering.

Over 10,000 registered aspirants attended (reports cite figures around 10,000–12,353 total registrations).

Registration: Aspirants registered via the official portal at https://aspirants-forum.uda.ke/ (registration for this specific forum is now closed).

There were fees (e.g., reportedly KSh 2,000 for MCA aspirants), and verification was required. Only successfully registered and confirmed aspirants were allowed entry.

The portal generated reports showing participation across all 47 counties and positions:

MCA (highest numbers, e.g., over 10,000), MP, Senator, Woman Representative, and Governor.

Broader Context:

This ties into UDA's preparations for 2027, including grassroots elections and nominations.

The party emphasizes "Kazi Ni Kazi" (Work is Work) and "Hustler Nation" themes. Some critics have noted the use of State House for party business or questioned motives, while supporters highlight it as a sign of strong grassroots mobilization and party discipline.
