Petitioner moves to Court to bar Ruto from holding Political meetings in State House

A petitioner, Lempaa Suyianka, has moved to the High Court seeking to bar President William Ruto from holding political meetings at State House, arguing that it's unconstitutional and gives the ruling party an unfair advantage.

The petitioner claims State House is meant for official state functions, not partisan politics, and that public resources are being misused.

The case names the Attorney General, Comptroller of State House, United Democratic Alliance, and President Ruto as respondents.

Suyianka demands the court to declare State House and State Lodges as exclusively for state functions and to prohibit their use for party politics.

He's also seeking reimbursement for public funds used and declarations of personal liability for unlawful expenditure.

The case has been filed days after President William Ruto met UDA aspirants at State House, Nairobi.

In the recent past, the president has been holding most political events in State House and various State Lodges.
