Why ODM rebels want Anyang' Nyong'o to be their 2027 Presidential Candidate

Fresh revelations have emerged of a hidden plan to field Kisumu Governor Prof Peter Anyang' Nyong'o as ODM's presidential candidate in 2027.

ODM rebels including James Orengo, Edwin Sifuna, Babu Owino, Godfrey Osotsi and Caleb Amisi want Nyong'o to contest for presidency.

There are worries that ODM will lose its national relevance should it fail to field a presidential candidate.

Reasons why Nyong'o should contest for Presidency

1. When the late Raila Odinga was contesting for the Africa Union Commission chairmanship seat, he trusted Nyong'o to be the acting Party Leader of ODM.

2. Prof Anyang' Nyong'o is serving his final term as the Governor for Kisumu and will be constitutionally barred from contesting for retention.

3. Nyong'o is a seasoned politician and a great orator. Having been in politics for over 3 decades gives him an edge over most contemporary politicians eyeing for presidency.

4. The Kisumu Governor has been so neutral to the political heat that emerged after the passing on of Raila Odinga. His non-alignment gives him an added advantage to battle for the top seat using the Orange Party.

5. Prof Nyong'o has exceedingly done well as the Kisumu governor, raising his political value on the national scene.
