Standstill at Nakuru as ODM Linda Mwananchi brigade storms the City

Nakuru town experienced significant disruption as the ODM-linked "Linda Mwananchi" brigade, led by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, and Siaya Governor James Orengo held a major rally and caravan tour.
The convoy entered the city, drawing large crowds that brought parts of Nakuru to a temporary standstill—with traffic slowing down and even stopping, pedestrians surging toward the roads and normal movement affected in some areas.
Supporters turned out in big numbers at spots like Mazembe Grounds, where the group held a rally after starting with prayers/church service.
Videos and reports describe energetic welcomes, charged atmospheres and claims of "tsunami"-like crowds.

Context on Linda Mwananchi

"Linda Mwananchi" (Protect the Citizen) is a faction/movement within or aligned to ODM (Orange Democratic Movement), often positioned as a more grassroots or opposition-leaning wing amid ongoing party tensions and splits.
It has been touring various counties with rallies, youth brigades, and calls to "protect" ordinary Kenyans—sometimes clashing with police or rival factions in other stops (e.g., past incidents with tear gas in places like Narok).
In Nakuru, leaders like Sifuna asserted his role as ODM Secretary-General, while Orengo reportedly positioned himself strongly in party matters.
The event appears part of a nationwide "Linda Mwananchi Tour" building momentum ahead of broader political activities, including announced protests around June 24–26 (marking Gen Z anniversary demos). Coverage from local media (K24, YouTube live streams, Instagram reels) shows warm receptions from locals, interactions in town, and a focus on opposition-style messaging against the current government.
No major reports of violence or serious incidents emerged from the Nakuru event so far—mostly described as a high-energy political mobilization with good turnout for the faction.
Nakuru has historically seen big political gatherings from various sides, so traffic chaos during such events isn't unusual.
