How the rise of Edwin Sifuna complicates Wetangula, Mudavadi political fortunes

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna is currently perceived as a serious presidential competitor to President William Ruto in 2027.

Sifuna's political star is on a meteoric rise, thus upsetting the status quo that favoured National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.

Sifuna hails from Bungoma County and his major support will be from the Western region . 

Both Wetangula and Mudavadi are likely to lose their sizeable stake of supporters to the Sifuna camp. 

Since the demise of Raila Odinga, President William Ruto never anticipated any serious challenger to his reelection bid.

However, the recent magical influence of Sifuna has send Ruto and his cronies back to the drawing board.

Fresh details have emerged of a conspiracy to drop Prof Kithure Kindiki as the Deputy President and replace him with Cooperatives and MSME CS Wycliffe Oparanya as the running mate in the 2027 presidential contest.

Who is Likely to win the 2027 Presidential Elections

The major threat to Ruto's reelection bid is a united opposition. 

Should the opposition rally behind a single candidate, then the current president of Kenya will not make it back to State House.

The formula that the opposition will use to select its joint presidential candidate will be based on the number of supporters and popularity sourced from major opinion polls.

This formula might favour Edwin Sifuna, who has already set his campaign machinery criss-crossing the country, hyping the Linda Mwananchi Movement.

Sifuna has a battery of political associates including James Orengo, Babu Owino, Majimbo Kalasinga, Godfrey Osotsi, Jack Wamboka, Richard Onyonka, Anthony Kibagendi among others.

Luckily, Sifuna has a major backing from the youths.
