Financial inclusion to secure your Future in Kenya
Kenya government has come up with various financial inclusion measures to benefit workers in the informal sector.
Just like formal employees, players in the informal sector are currently able to secure their future through pension schemes.
In the mobile financial inclusive platform, Kenyans are able to join the NSSF Haba Haba, KNEST, Women Enterprise Fund and the Hustler Fund.
However, if you want to grow your money, build your financial security and secure your future it's prudent to join the NSSF Haba Haba or KNEST.
NSSF Haba Haba
NSSF Haba Haba can be accessed through the mobile app or by dialing *254#.
It's a voluntary savings and pension scheme meant to help the informal sector workers save consistently for retirement and long-term financial security.
It targets the informal sector such as boda boda operators, mama mbogas, farmers, casual labourers and professionals with or without a formal pension scheme.
Products available under NSSF Haba Haba include long-term voluntary savings, short-term voluntary savings and maternity benefit for expectant mothers.
Contributions are allocated in split form: 70% goes to long-term savings and 30% goes to short-term savings.
Short-term benefits can be accessed at anytime and long-term benefits are locked until the age of 50.
Contributions on both short-term and long-term account earns daily interest declared by NSSF.
Subscribers are encouraged to nominate beneficiaries, so that in the event of death before the age of 50, the declared beneficiaries are able to access the funds.
KNEST
Kenya National Entrepreneurs Savings Trust (KNEST) is a nationally regulated informal sector pension scheme.
KNEST was established in 2021 to manage small contributions and provide both pension and short-term savings options for informal sector workers.
Just like NSSF Haba Haba, it can also be accessed via dialing *254# and have almost similar functions like NSSF pension scheme.
