Googlebook is a premium laptop platform from Google which combines Android and ChromeOS ideas, with a major focus on desktop apps and tight Android phone integration.

Googlebook laptops need high-end hardware like 16GB+ RAM, powerful AI chips, high-resolution touchscreens and long battery life, with several brands already showing models.

Googlebook Operating System offers deep Gemini features, app and file syncing with Android phones and support for desktop apps, third-party apps and all Android apps from Google Play.

The OS was introduced on May 2026 as a higher-end successor and alternative to Chromebooks. 

It runs Googlebook OS (an Android-based desktop OS that also incorporates ChromeOS foundations) and is designed from the ground up around Gemini Intelligence.

Main Points

It is not a replacement for Chromebooks: Chromebooks continue for education and budget use. Googlebooks target the premium consumer and laptop market with tighter Android phone integration, on-device AI and higher-end hardware.

AI-focused features:

1. Magic Pointer: Cursor that provides contextual Gemini suggestions such as hover/wiggle over a date to create a calendar event.

2. On-device Gemini with strong NPU performance (40–45+ TOPS).

Custom widgets via natural language, advanced dictation and other proactive AI tools.

Processors: Intel Core Ultra Series 3 (Panther Lake) or Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite (MediaTek support coming later).

16 GB RAM (up to 32 GB on some), 256 GB+ storage.

Up to 2.8K OLED touch displays, haptic trackpads, backlit keyboards, premium materials (aluminum, magnesium alloy, carbon fiber).

Fanless designs, up to about 14 hours video / 16 hours web browsing battery life.

Every purchase includes 12 months of Google AI Pro (5 TB storage + Gemini Advanced) plus short trials of YouTube Premium, Adobe Photoshop, etc. Software updates promised for up to 10 years.
