Online Clashes highlight fear of division within the Linda Mwananchi Movement

Online clashes are now the biggest headache for Linda Mwananchi top echelon, not just physical clashes at rallies, but fights online between supporters of its own leaders.

What's driving the division 

Fight over the political party vehicle for 2027

This is the core dispute. The movement needs a registered party to run in 2027.

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino says he already had a party before Linda Mwananchi started and it was considered as the vehicle

On the other hand, Saboti MP Caleb Amisi says his party People's Renaissance Movement (PM) — was also considered and claimed that he was removed from Linda Mwananchi WhatsApp groups after disagreements

Others have floated Ukombozi Peoples Party as an alternative, which Babu has criticized

A post from a Bungoma news page summarized it as "BABU VS AMISI: CONFUSION ROCKS LINDA MWANANCHI AS TOP ALLIES CLASH OVER PARTY STATUS!"

Amisi himself posted a video on September 15 saying the movement was formed to propel him politically and that a 4-person committee was formed to pick a party, but each member had their own party — leading to failed amalgamation talks.

Accusations of being a mole / government interference

Bumula MP Jack Wamboka accused Amisi of working with government to frustrate the movement, an allegation that has not been established as fact

Amisi's supporters online are being called "mole" and "Ruto" while Sifuna supporters use slogans like "Sisi ndio Sifuna."

Standard Digital reported on September 16 that the movement believes government-backed bloggers are pushing a narrative of a rift between Sifuna and Babu Owino after the September 13 Jacaranda rally to undermine momentum.

Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi dismissed those blogger claims: "tupo pamoja kama chanda na pete" (we are together like ring and finger).

Some comments written on Facebook and Instagram, for every Linda Mwananchi post turns into:

"Sifuna vs Babu Owino leadership debate"

"Tribal arguments (Luhya vs Luo) and accusations of jealousy"

Warnings that disunity will help Ruto in 2027, and recent Homa Bay violence where supporters clashed with alleged goons — commenters there were celebrating attacks and using ethnic slurs.

NTV's analysis package called it "CRACKS DEEPEN INSIDE LINDA MWANANCHI" — insiders allege severe power struggles behind the public unity displays for 2027.

The movement is also in court over its name as the Registrar of Political Parties rejected "Linda Mwananchi Movement" citing a similar acronym LINDA and the Tribunal has certified the case as urgent.

So the fear is not just online noise, the same issues (who leads, which party, and who is loyal) are playing out in WhatsApp groups, tribunal filings and rally organization.
