Many companies adopted remote working in 2020, with plans that the idea will continue in years to come. According to Gustavo Razzetti, an expert in work culture, there was increased political scuffles, uncontrollable employees and lack of empathy as most companies began to embrace telecommuting.
Razetti further alluded that employees were gradually becoming aggressive and disrespectful among themselves as they hid behind avatars.
Work culture experts provided a solution that companies ought to adopt before involving lawyers. Companies are supposed to closely monitor large chat groups, listen to grievances, reminding employees that they are still on work and not teasing friends.
Internet trolls emerged as people became more audacious behind keyboards, something that was most evident in workplace messaging platforms such as Slack, Google Chat, Microsoft Teams, Discord and Mattermost. Office conversation over the internet
According to research done by Stanford economist Nicholas Bloom, close to half of the United States of America (USA) workforce is working from home on full time basis. More than two-third of companies expect the continuity of home working, even after the pandemic.
Home working had led to increased usage of instant messenger platforms, chat rooms and message board. Though it has managed to tone down aggressive political discussions among cubicles, these new work tools have changed the manner in which employees confront the senior management and colleagues.
A research that was conducted by S&P Global on June 2020 revealed that close to 80 percent of organizations had implemented universal work-from-home policies. This reveals that Covid-19 has shaped a different trajectory with regard to the future of work.
