There have been intense speculations over the whereabouts of Tanzania president John Pombe Magufuli, with many social media users alleging that he is admitted in the Kenyan capital hospital. Other sources as quoted by the African report revealed that Magufuli was admitted in Dar es Salaam and was suffering from Covid-19 related complications.
Tanzania opposition leader Tundu Lissu demanded for information about the health status of president Magufuli. Reports by the Daily Nation indicated that Magufuli was being treated for Covid-19 in Nairobi Hospital in Kenya. However, the hospitalization of Magufuli in the neighboring country Kenya has not been officially confirmed.
“The president’s wellbeing is a matter of grave public concern. What is it with Magufuli that we don’t deserve to know?” opposition leader Tundu Lissu posed on Twitter.
#Pray4Magufuli trended on Twitter for the better part of Wednesday as netizens prayed for his quick recovery. However, a number of social media users castigated his dictatorial tendencies of brushing aside Covid-19 vaccines and urging Tanzanians to continue with their normal lives.
”Covid-19 is not a joke I am wishing President Magufuli a speedy recovery. He is currently receiving treatment at Nairobi Hospital. He jetted yesterday into the country,” a Twitter user wrote.
Another person posted a tweet that read: “I think now Tanzanians are not in denial anymore after their President MAgufuli tested positive for Covid-19. #Pray4Magufuli.”
