Mudavadi’s ANC Party Fires Salvo over the Ouster of Senator Cleophas Malala

Amani National Congress (ANC) has condemned the ouster of Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala as Senate Deputy Minority Leader. In a statement, ANC described the decision as hostile and threatened to take drastic action in retaliation.
The Party pitched on its social media page that: “ANC Party condemns, in the strongest terms possible the removal of Senator Cleo Malala from the position of Senate Deputy Minority Leader. Senate Malala was appointed into that capacity as a NASA representative. We consider this as a hostile action from ODM and will not take it lying down. We will revisit.”
Malala was axed from the privileged House position of senate deputy minority leader and replaced with Kilifi Senator Steward Matzayo.
Ford Kenya Party leader who doubles as Bungoma senator Moses Wetangula has criticized the dethronement of his Kakakamega counterpart, terming the ouster as “selfish, unhelpful, unlawful, vindictive, intolerant, vengeful and against the NASA coalition agreement.”
18 NASA members met on Wednesday to sign the petition that removed the firebrand Kakamega Senator. Malala’s removal is an escalation of the differences between ODM and other NASA affiliates. The meeting was summoned by senate Minority Leader James Orengo. He was allegedly removed due to misconduct and disrespect.
Malala had been appointed in that capacity following the removal of Wetangula as Senate Minority Leader. He deputized Orengo to fill the ethnic gap of Wetangula’s ouster.

When Kenya president William Ruto was almost overwhelmed with gen z revolt, his landmark decision was to dismiss the entire cabinet. This occurred immediately after his refusal to sign the Finance Bill 2024/2025. Ruto endeavored to reconstitute a new cabinet, dubbed broad-based executive. He incorporated key opposition figures drawn from the ODM Party - a move that appeased the doyen of opposition Raila Amollo Odinga. Cabinet Secretaries drawn from ODM included: Hassan Ali Joho, Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya, John Mbadi Ng'onga and James Opiyo Wandayi. ODM is as good as dead, and Raila's age factor limits him from flying the Party's presidential flag again and has opted out by contesting as Africa Union Commission (AUC) chairman. President Ruto will heavily rely on two members of his cabinet in his reelection bid. Both Musalia Mudavadi and Hassan Ali Joho are billionaires going by their own assertion while appearing before the Parliamentary Committee on Appointments. President...
