President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga made an impromptu visit at Nairobi on Thursday, where they were shown various projects initiated by Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS). The two leaders inspected the progress of the Green park Bus terminus at Nairobi’s Railway Station.
The Green Park Bus Terminus was launched by NMS with the aim to decongest the City. The Green Park Bus terminus, formerly referred as Railways Club, will terminate Public service Vehicles (PSVs) plying Lang’ata Road and Ngong’ Road.
PSV from the Mt Kenya region will now transfer to terminate to the new Desai and Park Road termini, instead of Tea Room, Accra Road within the Central Business District (CBD).
“This will promote the construction of more termini to see all PSVS terminate outside the CBD to decongest the city and seat of power while ensuring affordable, accessible and functional transport solutions in Nairobi which hosts 4 million people,” NMS stated.
Raila made a first public appearance after contracting Covid-19, on Wednesday, where he chaired a meeting that was attended by top ODM officials. Uhuru and Raila’s joint City tour has allayed fears of the alleged souring relationship among the handshake partners.
Media reports indicate that Raila was tested negative before appearing in public.
