Kenya decides: Will it be Raila Odinga or William Ruto?

Kenya is set to undergo a democratic process in which Kenyans will have a chance to vote in leaders of their choice.

The country has experienced a vicious electioneering period, characterized with harsh exchanges, sometimes leading to physical confrontation among antagonizing camps.

The heat of the election moment will be felt ahead of the announcement of a new president.

Opposition leader Raila Amollo Odinga is expected to face a fierce contest with Deputy President William Samoei Ruto.

The two top presidential contenders have not left anything to chance. Raila is making his fifth presidential stab, while Ruto will be on his first attempt.

If history was to repeat itself, Raila Odinga has the highest chance of being elected to replace President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Former President Mwai Kibaki and his successor Uhuru Kenyatta failed on their first attempts. Basing on the same precedence, it's expected that Ruto will not make it to presidency. However, this fact is hypothetical and not based on absolute certainty.

A bruising duel between Raila and Ruto might ultimately find its way to the Supreme Court. Chief Justice Martha Koome, alongside Supreme Court judges, will then listen to the complain lodged and decide whether to uphold or nullify the presidential electoral outcome.

Ruto has been quoted severally saying that he will accept the verdict and expects Raila to, also, do so.

Raila Odinga has previously protested outcomes which placed him second.

Kenya's 2022 General Election is a unique one, as the vote-rich Mt Kenya region lacks a formidable presidential candidate.

The two top presidential contenders chose their running mates from Central Kenya in a bid to woo the region's support and preclude a looming voter apathy.

There's an increased zoning of battle grounds in 2022 elections. Central region being the most sought swing vote area.

Functions that Uhuru will not Execute

President Uhuru Kenyatta would not be able to discharge some functions, when a new president will be elected.

Uhuru will not be able to make State appointments or fire any State employees. He will not be able to issue State awards and commendation. He will not be able to pardon petty crime criminals.

Uhuru's presidency is coming to a tumultuous end, when Kenyans are feeling the heat of increased cost of living amidst rampant inflation.

Why Matiang'i comeback threatens Ruto's re-election bid

Former Interior cabinet secretary Dr. Fred Matiang'i is a great rival to President William Ruto in his 2027 re-election contest. Matiang'i is set to give Ruto a run for his money, owing to his track record as a cabinet secretary in the previous regime.  Former President Uhuru Kenyatta trusted Matiang'i more than any other cabinet secretary due to his workaholic nature and might be forced to finance his presidential quest.  The former Interior CS is reportedly eyeing the presidential seat on a Jubilee ticket, as alluded by the party's secretary general Jeremiah Kioni. Ruto's dalliance with the doyen of opposition politics and ODM party leader Raila Odinga had complicated the opposition's quest to unseat the sitting Head of State. Matiang'i comeback seals the vaccum left by Raila's departure. Why Ruto might lose Kenya's presidential seat in 2027 Ahead of 2022 general elections in Kenya , President William Ruto promised Kenyans heaven on Earth onl...

Public Seal transfer: Inside Ruto's plot to secretly sell State Parastatals

The reason why the Public Seal was allegedly transferred from the Attorney General office to the Chief of Staff in the office of the President of Kenya is yet to be known with quite a number of contradictory remarks. Phode News Hub delved deeper and unearthed imponderable dirty corrupt schemes and conspiracy to privatize State parastatals through illegitimate means.  Lawyer Ndegwa Njiru alleged that the Public Seal is in the custody of the Head of Public Service, Felix Kipatarus Koskei. All commercial engagements and accords will allegedly be sealed by Koskei on behalf of Kenya government. Kenya is glaring at the risks of  being auctioned by a person who lacks the legal knowledge to discern what should be sealed and what should not. According to the Attorney General Act 2012, Section 28 specifically provides that, “The Attorney-General shall have custody of the public seal of the Republic of Kenya." Standard Media exclusively reported that President William Ruto sec...
