How Raila Odinga plans to overthrow Ruto

Many Kenyans wonder why President William Ruto hasn't sent security forces to thwart Raila's rallies.

ODM leader Raila Odinga is arguably Kenya's last strong man that's still standing and daring the Kenyan bulls by their horns.

Political underdogs in both camps have made a name by either praising or ridiculing him, depending on which region you are based.

Raila has dared four Kenya's presidents in a row. History have it that he almost dethroned Daniel Arap Moi through military in 1982.

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta succumbed to the 'handshake deal' to lessen Raila's impact on economic sabotage, that would have cost the country's GDP.

The doyen of opposition politics has a massive following and is most feared by Kenya government.

Deployment of security forces to preclude his political operations might amount to human rights violations such as extrajudicial killings.

President Ruto fears going the Hague route again, as most of Raila's supporters are ready to face bullets instead of towing the government way.

Ruto's retaliatory strategy

President William Ruto has resorted to use international community to sanction Raila.

Multiple reports indicate that Ruto pushed for the termination of Raila's international duty as High Representative for infrastructure in the African Union.

Raila had been appointed to that position, owing to his dalliance with the previous regime under Uhuru Kenyatta.

Special envoy jobs are only held by people who are friendly to their respective governments.

It's also said that Raila risks being barred to visit some Western countries owing to his firm stand of 'delegitimizing' Ruto's rule.

Raila lost to Ruto in the 2022 Kenya's General Election.

Raila sought legal redress at the Supreme Court. However the Apex court led by Chief Justice Martha Koome thrashed his case due to lack of water-tight evidence.

Is Raila planning to overthrow Kenya government?

Raila Odinga is a very powerful Kenya politician and an eternal presidential candidate.

He issued a 14-day ultimatum to Ruto's government to lower the prices of essential commodities or he will lead the mass to State House in a bid to dethrone Ruto.

Raila is well known for 'treasonable acts' but the government fears arresting him for it might mark the genesis of a great revolution.

Raila's revolutionary idea resonates well with his support base and many Kenyans like his political creativity in advancing the interest of the general populace.

Ruto's decision that removed subsidies on the prices of maize flour and petroleum related products has given Raila political mileage.

Why Matiang'i comeback threatens Ruto's re-election bid

Former Interior cabinet secretary Dr. Fred Matiang'i is a great rival to President William Ruto in his 2027 re-election contest. Matiang'i is set to give Ruto a run for his money, owing to his track record as a cabinet secretary in the previous regime.  Former President Uhuru Kenyatta trusted Matiang'i more than any other cabinet secretary due to his workaholic nature and might be forced to finance his presidential quest.  The former Interior CS is reportedly eyeing the presidential seat on a Jubilee ticket, as alluded by the party's secretary general Jeremiah Kioni. Ruto's dalliance with the doyen of opposition politics and ODM party leader Raila Odinga had complicated the opposition's quest to unseat the sitting Head of State. Matiang'i comeback seals the vaccum left by Raila's departure.
