DP Ruto Hints working with Raila Odinga ahead of 2022 elections

Deputy President William Ruto has stated that he can still work with ODM leader Raila Odinga ahead of 2022 general elections. He made those revelations during an interview with Radio Citizen on Thursday where he stated that he is willing to work with all like-minded Kenyan leaders.
“Anybody who wants to join us to fight poverty and other things that ail the country is welcome. We have our plans, if Raila believes in us, we will agree and work together,” Ruto stated.
His remarks come weeks after Raila’s brother Oburu Oginga hinted that the opposition leader may work with Ruto in the 2022 elections. Oburu’s revelations came about the backdrop of rumors that Raila and Ruto could be talking behind the curtains.
The assumption of Raila and Ruto looming alliance came after speculations emerged that a section of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s allies were pushing for a Musalia Mudavadi presidency.
Ruto confided to the public that his differences with Raila were political and not personal. He stated that: “There are many things I agree with him totally. For example, I agree with him when he says political parties should be national and not regional.”
The deputy president further criticized the government for deviating from the big 4 agenda to the BBI issue. “Hadn’t we continued with the path we took in 2013-2017, the big 4 agenda wouldn’t be hard to achieve, but we left the road and adopted a more pressing issue that has made it hard to achieve our development agenda,” he added.

Why Ruto will heavily rely on Mudavadi, Joho in his reelection bid

When Kenya president William Ruto was almost overwhelmed with gen z revolt, his landmark decision was to dismiss the entire cabinet. This occurred immediately after his refusal to sign the Finance Bill 2024/2025. Ruto endeavored to reconstitute a new cabinet, dubbed broad-based executive. He incorporated key opposition figures drawn from the ODM Party - a move that appeased the doyen of opposition Raila Amollo Odinga. Cabinet Secretaries drawn from ODM included: Hassan Ali Joho, Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya, John Mbadi Ng'onga and James Opiyo Wandayi. ODM is as good as dead, and Raila's age factor limits him from flying the Party's presidential flag again and has opted out by contesting as Africa Union Commission (AUC) chairman. President Ruto will heavily rely on two members of his cabinet in his reelection bid. Both Musalia Mudavadi and Hassan Ali Joho are billionaires going by their own assertion while appearing before the Parliamentary Committee on Appointments. President...
