Gloves-off as Uhuru Allies Split over the move to kick out Ruto from Jubilee

President Uhuru Kenyatta’s allies have been divided over the decision to remove Deputy President William Ruto from Jubilee Party. A section of Uhuru’s insiders are of the view that Ruto should be removed from Jubilee leadership, while another group sees the move will hurt the president’s reputation.
According to the Standard Digital, those who are against the removal of the deputy president are of the opinion that Uhuru will not be able to effectively fight future political battles if the DP is removed.
The plot to dethrone the DP from the party leadership has dragged for some time, since last October, due to divergent opinions.
Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju and Vice Chairman David Murathe confirmed to the media that a National Management Committee (NMC) meeting was scheduled to be held on Monday. However, Tuju declined to share the details of the meeting’s agenda.
“We have a National Management Committee meeting tomorrow, but I can neither confirm nor deny if Ruto’s removal will be the agenda. I cannot talk of an agenda before it is adopted by the meeting,” Tuju told the media on Sunday.
But Murathe confirmed that the meeting was meant to kick-start the process to fire Ruto as the deputy party leader.
“Jubilee NMC will meet tomorrow at 11am to recap recommendations of ejection of the deputy party leader as we await the NEC convention by the party leader,” Murathe stated.
The purge against the deputy president will be a culmination of his fall-out with Uhuru. This is after Ruto’s allies were removed from influential House positions and replaced with pro-handshake members.

Why Ruto will heavily rely on Mudavadi, Joho in his reelection bid

When Kenya president William Ruto was almost overwhelmed with gen z revolt, his landmark decision was to dismiss the entire cabinet. This occurred immediately after his refusal to sign the Finance Bill 2024/2025. Ruto endeavored to reconstitute a new cabinet, dubbed broad-based executive. He incorporated key opposition figures drawn from the ODM Party - a move that appeased the doyen of opposition Raila Amollo Odinga. Cabinet Secretaries drawn from ODM included: Hassan Ali Joho, Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya, John Mbadi Ng'onga and James Opiyo Wandayi. ODM is as good as dead, and Raila's age factor limits him from flying the Party's presidential flag again and has opted out by contesting as Africa Union Commission (AUC) chairman. President Ruto will heavily rely on two members of his cabinet in his reelection bid. Both Musalia Mudavadi and Hassan Ali Joho are billionaires going by their own assertion while appearing before the Parliamentary Committee on Appointments. President...
