Why Raila Odinga wants to topple Ruto's government

ODM leader Raila Odinga has intensified his call for the reopening of IEBC servers for public scrutiny to identify who really won the 2022 Kenya Presidential election.

Raila has called for mass protest over increased cost of living, while advancing his own political agenda.

The increased cost of living has given Raila impetus in his renewed assault against the government which, in his own view, lost in 2022 elections.

Will Raila manage to oust Ruto?

President William Ruto is yet to unleash any physical confrontation of State machinery against his political nemesis, despite heightened pressure to lessen the tax burden from the previous pupulace.

Kenya's appetite for foreign debt is still high. The government totally erred when it attributed that the current inflationary rate is occasioned to the fluctuating global oil prices.

Russian incursion on Ukraine had also pinned as a contributing factor to increased prices of essential commodities.

The scion of Jaramogi underpins the removal of subsidies of some products as an avenue for looting.

President Ruto recently stated that Kenya's economy has been stabilized after the removal of the burden of subsidies on flour and oil.

Does Raila portray any revolutionary trait?

From the 1982 abortive coup to the infamous swearing in as 'the people's president', Raila is revolutionary in nature.

In 1994 after the demise of his father Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, Raila attempted to block Wamalwa Kijana from succeeding his father Jaramogi.

He was unable to dethrone Wamalwa and decamped to found National Development Party (NDP-K), registered by one Stephen Oludhe.

Most Luo MPs, with the exception of James Orengo and Joe Donde, fled Ford Kenya to NDP-K.

In 2005 Raila Odinga who was by then Roads Minister in Kibaki's government, led the liberal Democrats under the Orange brigade to oppose the proposed constitutional amendment, christened as the 'Wako draft'.

Kenya's third President Mwai Kibaki was prompted to sack Raila and allies after government defeat.

In 2018 the gallant son of Kenya and a perennial presidential contender took a mock oath at Uhuru Park, where Raila Amollo Odinga was sworn in as 'People's President'.

The mock presidential oath was administered by revolutionary attorneys Miguna Miguna and TJ Kajwang'.

Later on Miguna was deported to Canada, only to return back after Uhuru Kenyatta had left presidency.

Raila Odinga has dared four Kenya presidents in a row.

He started with Daniel Arap Moi, then Mwai Kibaki followed by Uhuru Kenyatta and finally William Ruto.

Mr Odinga's ultimatum to Ruto is to restore the removed subsidies or else he will lead Kenyans in the match to State House and remove Ruto from power.

His 14-day ultimatum is about to expire.

Will Raila Odinga manage to remove Ruto from presidency and take his allegedly stolen victory?

Why Ruto will heavily rely on Mudavadi, Joho in his reelection bid

When Kenya president William Ruto was almost overwhelmed with gen z revolt, his landmark decision was to dismiss the entire cabinet. This occurred immediately after his refusal to sign the Finance Bill 2024/2025. Ruto endeavored to reconstitute a new cabinet, dubbed broad-based executive. He incorporated key opposition figures drawn from the ODM Party - a move that appeased the doyen of opposition Raila Amollo Odinga. Cabinet Secretaries drawn from ODM included: Hassan Ali Joho, Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya, John Mbadi Ng'onga and James Opiyo Wandayi. ODM is as good as dead, and Raila's age factor limits him from flying the Party's presidential flag again and has opted out by contesting as Africa Union Commission (AUC) chairman. President Ruto will heavily rely on two members of his cabinet in his reelection bid. Both Musalia Mudavadi and Hassan Ali Joho are billionaires going by their own assertion while appearing before the Parliamentary Committee on Appointments. President...
